Published: Fri, 19 Feb 2010 16:04:15

The Minister for the Cabinet office, the Olympics and London gave evidence to the London Select Committee on Wednesday 24 February. This covered both the subject of their first inquiry, ‘London’s Population and the 2011 Census’ and the work of the Government Office for London (GOL) and I accompanied the Minister at the hearing.

The Census inquiry was announced on 17 December 2009. Two oral sessions have already taken place on 1st and 8th February, where academics including Tony Travers, the London Voluntary Sector Council, Newham Council, Westminster City Council, GLA and London Councils gave evidence. The Office for National Statistics will also be giving evidence on Monday 22 February. Further information on the inquiry, written evidence submitted and transcripts of the first two sessions can be found at the London Regional Committee website at this link here.
