Hope on a Rope

Published: Thu, 18 Feb 2010 14:06:55

On 12 February, under the recently launched ‘Civil Service London’ banner, Chris Hayes, Regional Director of GOL and other civil servants from across the country abseilled down Riverwalk House, to help save lives in Haiti. The event raised nearly £5,000.

An example of the work taking place under the DEC umbrella is to have provided sufficient medicine and equipment for a population of 50,000 people for three month.

This fundraising event was the first collaborative event for Civil Service London (CS London) since its launch on 21 January. It formed part of Civil Service London’s volunteering strand. You can find out more here

Civil Service London is part of the wider Civil Service in the English Regions (CSER) programme. Sir Gus O’Donnell, Head of the Civil Service, and Peter Housden, Permanent Secretary lead for CSER, are already championing the event and providing generous personal support.
